David Steinberger (MBA ‘07) is CEO of comiXology, a cloud-based digital distribution platform for comics. He founded the company while at Stern where he won the Entrepreneurs Challenge. When comiXology rocketed to be a top grosser on the App Store, it caught Amazon’s attention and was acquired in 2014.
Janelle Benjamin (BS ‘01) is a serial entrepreneur and investor. She is one of the few Black female entrepreneurs to raise over $1 million in funding and successfully exit. She co-founded SuperData Research which was acquired by Nielsen in 2018.
While at Stern, Vikram Bhaskaran (MBA ‘09) co-founded Tote, a digital catalog app, and placed second in the 2009 Entrepreneurs Challenge. Among other features, Tote allowed users to save or pin items they liked. The team spun-off this popular tool and ultimately became Pinterest.

Congratulations to Our 2022 Entrepreneurs Challenge Winners!

On June 6th we kicked off our 2022 Stern Venture Fellows program. This summer, 9 teams will have the opportunity to work full-time on their startups, participate in industry-specific workshops, and have access to mentorship and coaching. Learn more about the program and this year’s cohort below. 

Beyond Good (fka Madecasse) founded by Tim McCoullum has just been named to Fast Company’s 10 Most Innovative Companies of 2022. Beyond Good, a mission-driven chocolate brand that’s bringing a new level of transparency to the space, was the winner of the 2008 Social Venture Competition. 

On May 13, we hosted the NYU Entrepreneurs Challenge Final Pitch-Off & Awards Ceremony. 8 teams pitched off for the chance to win up to $225K in seed funding plus pro bono services. Congratulations to the winning teams: Sipple (HVC), Trovbase (NVC), and Baton (TVC)!
