The Stern Venture Fellows (SVF) program supports NYU’s high-potential entrepreneurs in advancing their ventures over a customized summer program. Fellows will spend ten weeks, full-time, growing their startup ventures with the guidance and support of NYU faculty and staff, alumni, and the bi-coastal mentor community.

This program is an opportunity for startup founders in a specific industry to set measurable goals, leverage expert guidance, and receive non-dilutive funding, among other resources, from the NYU Stern and broader NYU network.

Crash Course is a driving simulator for drivers with Autism Spectrum Disorder who want to practice their driving in a safe environment to gain more confidence behind the wheel. Crash Course uses state of the art technology to create a simulator that mimics real-life driving situations. We are specifically designing the simulator to incorporate skills that a driver with ASD may find difficult. We hope to make Crash Course widely available for the PC and gaming consoles so that drivers with ASD can practice as much as they need – affordably and effectively. Crash Course will level up the existing driver’s education so that any drivers – neurodivergent and neurotypical drivers who may need more practice can do so safely before getting behind the wheel.

He has showcased his passion for marketing and fashion through his experience with varying levels of merchandise planning and buying with companies such as Birchbox and Bloomingdale’s. He is now an alumnae of NYU Stern, receiving his Master’s degree this year.

The Great Fantastic’s mission is to make the world’s comfiest apparel using sustainable resources and ethical practices.

DREW ENYEDI

Co-Founder | Grounded Upcycling

Drew Enyedi is an undergraduate business student at Stern. He has worked as an intern for Northwestern Mutual, teaching him skills in finance and made impact through self-initiated projects. Through his classwork and outside projects he has developed skills in corporate finance, financial accounting, Python, Java, HTML, design thinking, and design research.

Grounded Upcycling collects spent coffee grounds from coffee shops and upcycles them into cosmetic products.

 

YIANNIS GIOKAS

Prior to starting Break the Love in 2018, Trisha Goyal attended NYU Stern School for her undergraduate degree. She later went on to lead digital product at ESPN and GIPHY where she managed technology and design teams of 50+. Prior to this she worked as both a product manager and strategy associate at Huffington Post where she led the business development for international market growth including a joint-venture for HuffPost Mexico.

Yiannis Giokas has more than ten years of experience working in cybersecurity and analytics. He has served as a consultant, manager and currently serves as the Vice President of Research and Development of PCCW. He is the CEO of Verge. Capita and completed his Masters program at NYU Stern School in 2016.

Break the Love is a community driven tennis app connecting players with rallies and matches powered by a marketplace of players and courts.

Maxwell Grove has previously held roles in data and analytics, in product management. He currently works in a commercial role focused on sales and go-to-market activities.

Revelio Labs provides labor market analytics to enable smarter decision making.

Colin Horsford serves as the COO and Cofounder of CurbGenie. Horsford has become exceptionally skilled in regards to coding, helping build multiple apps that have been sold in the App Store, as well as websites. He is also a certified public accountant and has worked for companies such as Ernst & Young and Goldman Sachs.

CurbGenie allows travelers to return their rental cars at the airport’s curbside.

Daniel Hyun is a current undergraduate student at NYU Stern. He has experience with coding and building data science applications as well as working in marketing and sales roles for companies such as Clinton Foundation, Blossom Academy and IBM . He is the Chief Marketing Officer of Exchange.

Goni Light has six years of experience working with multiple brands/products at Procter & Gamble. She served as the University Commander at the School of Aviation Studies at the Israeli Air Force. Goni received her Masters from NYU Stern in 2016.

Ilse Paanakker is a L’Oreal marketer and healthcare innovation consultant turned habit- based wellness expert and certified personal trainer. She studied Marketing and Statistics at NYU Stern where she graduated in 2015. She has studied the health and wellness industry extensively for the last five years, strengthening her knowledge by obtaining personal training certification.

Habit House empowers people to live their best lives by holding them accountable to making behavioral changes via 1:1 text messages.

Rachel Serwetz is the CEO of Woken, founded in 2013. She previously attended Bimingaton University and NYU Stern School of Business for her bachelors and masters respectively. Her previous experience includes working for companies such as Bridgewater Associates Goldman Sachs.

Andrew attended Dartmouth College, where he majored in mathematics. He previously co-founded ScholarBridge, an online platform connecting undergraduate researchers to faculty mentors that sold in 2016. He currently attends NYU, where is pursing his MD/MBA dual degree.

ARASH ASADY

Fellow | Emcee

Arash is CEO and co-founder of emcee. Arash started his career after high school when he joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) as an intelligence analyst. He spent five years learning two new languages, applying data science to illuminate networks of bad actors, and employing technology to find and track high value individuals in Afghanistan. Since then, he worked at two leading banks on Wall Street as a derivatives algorithmic trader and developed a background in software programming and development. He left his day job in the summer of 2016 to pursue fintech entrepreneurship full-time while he finished his MBA at NYU Stern. He is passionate about applying the finance, technology, and data science skills he accumulated over the past ten years to entrepreneurship. Arash is a graduate of Middlebury College, Columbia University, and NYU Stern.

Ryan is CTO and co-founder of emcee. Prior to emcee, he led engineering teams as a consultant in the manufacturing industry. His skills are developing algorithms, designing software, data science, and mathematical modeling. Ryan is a computer science student at NYU and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.

Tammy is the co-founder and CEO of Cognitive ToyBox, a company building a research-backed technology platform for kindergarten readiness. Tammy holds a BA in psychology from Stanford University and an MBA in entrepreneurship and finance from NYU Stern.

Divya is co-founder and CEO of Grocer8. Her expertise is developing and negotiating cutting-edge marketing and digital partnerships. She is in-house counsel working across the portfolio at NBCUniversal, and prior to joining NBCU, she worked at a major intellectual property law firm where she advised tech, CPG and banking clients. She is highly skilled at strategic problem-solving and has also worked on entrepreneurial projects ranging from creating a popular comedy blog to managing a nonprofit junior board, where she led the team that increased revenue 100x in just two years through a series of unique partnerships and business development opportunities. Divya hails from Phoenix, Arizona; after graduating from Cornell University with honors, she headed to New York City to study law at Fordham University. She graduated from the NYU Stern School of Business in May 2018, where she is earning her MBA with concentrations in strategy and marketing.

Alec Sergeyev has 20 years of experience in running operations and technology initiatives of varying scale up to $200MM. He has background in software development and multiple stages of startup businesses. Alec holds Master’s in Computer Science and EMBA from NYU. (He also loves wines and is a thoughtful consumer). Alec is therefore prepared to setup and run operations of the business, manage design and development of the educational platform and continuously work on business strategy.

Will attended Washington University in St. Louis where he was captain of the football team. He has five publications in orthopedic journals, and has expertise in conducting research trials. He currently attends NYU, where is pursuing his MD/MBA dual degree.

MARY TAYLOR

Fellow | Mary Taylor Wines

Mary has more than 20 years of experience in the wine industry including  all steps of the global wine supply chain, identifying and marketing to specific target consumer groups, and establishing relationships with suppliers and distributors. She received her MBA in 2017 through the Executive MBA Program at NYU Stern. Through her startup Mary Taylor Wines, she is actively working with suppliers and identifying wines, as well as establishing and maintaining existing relationships with clients while also working in various markets as a brand manager.

EMILY WALLEN

Fellow | Grocer8

Emily is co-founder and CMO of Grocer8. Her expertise is in digital marketing and audience development. She is a social media manager on the USA Network Brand Marketing team at NBCUniversal. She previously spent time on USA’s integrated, on-air and digital content teams, and is an expert in collaborating with new and emerging technology partners, identifying first-to-market opportunities, and providing best-in-class strategic recommendations for both consumers and advertisers. Prior to joining NBCU, Emily worked for Ars Nova Entertainment, a production company specializing in multiplatform programming for film, television, web and live entertainment. Emily is originally from Pennsylvania and received her BA from Barnard College of Columbia University in 2011. She is graduating from NYU’s Stern School of Business in May 2018, where she is earning her MBA with concentrations in management and entertainment, media and technology.

Lia is the co-founder of Pepper, a startup that makes bras that finally fit women with small breasts. Prior to starting Pepper, Lia was a management consultant at McKinsey and worked in growth marketing at a tech startup in NYC. She just completed her first year in NYU Stern’s Full-Time MBA Program.
