Recap: 2024 Quest for Cash Bootcamp

At the day-long Quest for Cash Bootcamp, the Berkley Center helped demystify the process of raising investor capital for early-stage teams in the NYU Entrepreneurs Challenge Startup Accelerator and other promising NYU ventures.

The day kicked off with teams learning the thought process of investors, learning from the first-hand experience of our panel of experienced early-stage investors, including Nick Adams (Managing Partner at Differential Ventures), Badrul Farooqi (Product Leader and Investor at Cursor Capital), Michelle Kwok (Venture Team at SOSV), Chika Ogele (Asscoaite, Newark Ventures Partners), and Neel Murthy (Head of Growth, Goldbelly and SVP of Pioneer Fund).

The day continued with Ariel Rom and Sophie Kraff from Cooley LLP joining us to help break down the technical and most essential legal elements that founders should consider when raising funds. During lunch, teams from a panel of experienced founders, who shared their stories from the fundraising trenches, including Michael Bank (Co-Founder, Blip Labs), Joe Landolina (CEO, Cresilon), Mo Zhou (Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Alfred Technologies), Tiffany Kelly (Founder & CEO, Curastory), and Trisha Goyal (CEO, Break the Love).

We closed out the with a session from Berkley Center Executive Director Cynthia Franklin, who taught the cohort how to tell their stories in her “Art (& Science) of a Pitch.” And tied the day together with a round of speed pitches, giving the teams a chance to put what they learned throughout the day into practice.
