AI is no longer the future of startup innovation, it’s the foundation, and at the hands-on workshop, “Powering Your Startup with AI: A Deep Dive Into Gemini,” NYU founders got a look at how Google’s rapidly evolving AI ecosystem is transforming the way entrepreneurs advertise, create, and scale. A major focus of the event was the integration of AI directly into the engine of advertising. After an exciting workshop that covered the basics of AI tools, the Berkley Center welcomed back Google Labs’ Amanda Hyman (MBA Stern ’23) and Christian Samuelson to dive deeper into the next generation of Google’s tools. This time, they would be diving into Gemini’s new creative features, Google Ads integrations, and how these next-gen tools are reshaping everything from startup marketing to product development.
The session kicked off with a look back at Google’s AI journey, and the launch of their flagship AI model, Gemini. Attendees explored how Gemini has expanded far beyond text and research, now powering a suite of tools that can generate images, videos, and even interactive learning experiences. ImageFX was a highlight in Google’s advancement with AI with image generation, which allows users to generate high-quality images directly within Gemini. But what really caught founders’ attention was Nano Banana, a brand-new feature for contextual photo editing that’s perfect for startups creating content, prototypes, or mockups–unlocking new potential for e-commerce and branding applications.
From there, the session dove into Notebook LM, where attendees learned how to visualize complex ideas across multiple dozens of sources using mind maps that bring connections and insights to life. The Deep Dive podcast tool showed off how users can directly interact with audio, accelerating learning and decision-making. More new tools were introduced like Veo which showed off AI-powered video creation, and Doppl, an experimental app that lets you try on any look and explore your style.
Of all the tools showcased, the biggest takeaway for many founders was how AI can supercharge Google Ads. Attendees were guided through how AI is reshaping Google Ads, from campaign creation and asset generalization to final ad placement. The presenters demonstrated how Gemini powers smarter ad development through AI-driven optimization, data ingestion, bidding strategy, and keyword coverage. Attendees were sure to gain actionable insights to use Google’s AI features to leverage AI for daily tasks, streamline workflows, and drive smarter, more efficient growth across their ventures.
Before wrapping up, attendees got a sneak peek at Project Willow, Google’s long-term vision that bridges AI, quantum computing, and artificial general intelligence (AGI) where AI will be the foundation of Google Suite.
If there was one clear takeaway, it was this: Google’s AI ecosystem offers immense potential, but its real impact depends on how you apply it. From creative content to data optimization and business growth, the tools are powerful, but it’s up to the founders to strategically use it.
