A great startup idea is only the beginning. Finding the right people to help bring it to life, getting honest feedback, and knowing what to do next can be just as important.
That spirit of collaboration was on full display at the NYU Stern Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship’s latest Pitch Power Hour & Founder Matchup, where more than 140 founders and members of the entrepreneurial community came together to share ideas, find collaborators, and explore opportunities to move their ventures forward.
The event brought together a diverse mix of participants from across NYU, including the Grossman School of Medicine, Tandon School of Engineering, and College of Arts & Science, alongside NYU alumni and members of the broader startup community. Two investors also joined the gathering, adding another perspective to an afternoon of entrepreneurial exchange.
With just 60 seconds to make their case, founders took the stage to introduce their ventures and share what they needed to take the next step. While some were searching for co-founders or teammates, others were looking to hire, make valuable introductions, or connect with people who could help them tackle specific challenges. Each pitch was followed by another 60 seconds of questions and feedback from the audience, giving presenters an opportunity to test their messaging and hear new perspectives on their ideas.
But the value of Pitch Power Hour extends well beyond the pitches themselves. Bringing together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and skills created opportunities for unexpected connections, fresh perspectives, and relationships that can continue long after the event. Whether someone arrived with a startup to pitch or simply an interest in getting involved, there were plenty of ways to take part.
